Background
Prior to a conference for instructional technology resource teachers in August of 2007, I published a monthly newsletter during the school year for the faculty and staff of Virginia Beach Central Academy in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The newsletter had a variety of formats but was always published electronically, either on a personal Web page or on the SharePoint site provided by Virginia Beach Public Schools. The newsletter was designed to provide technology news and tips. After inspiring talks by Will Richardson, keynote speaker, and Dr. James Merrill, superintendent of schools in Virginia Beach, I decided to provide similar information in this blog format.
It is easy to publish technology and education news and tips in this format, so I will publish more frequently. I can use the blog as a teaching tool, for blogs, demonstrating rss feeds, writing comments, and more. If you are relatively new to blogging, you may find the following information helpful:
- This is the information page for my blog.
- Every page of this blog looks the same, except for this column (where the information is posted).
- The second column contains:
- Search – enter term or word to search the site
- Blogroll – a list of blogs or links
- The third column contains:
- Archives – begin with August and read from the bottom up
- Categories - click on any category to read the archives with a particular tag
- Pages – links to the other pages associated with this blog (you may find the Tips & More links pages informative)
- Recent Posts (the heart of this blog along with the Archives)
